Questions and Answers

How many people see the website?

We currently average about 800 people per month using our site.

How much business will I get?

How long is a piece of string??? Our web stats tell us that in April 2008 Photographers received 198 views, Hairdressers received 150 views, Builders 128, Horseriding 102, Electricians 41. You get the idea...

What we do know is that the businesses with the most number of reviews and therefore at the top of their category listing consistently get more hits onto their contact details, so more recommendations leads to more business.

We are a growing website that advertises across the Island, the more members we get the more business we drive across all categories; if someone is really pleased with a business that they find on Wightpages, they are more than likely to come back when they need to find another good Island business.

Where do you advertise?

We concentrate largely on online search engine advertising as we are a website, but to get the website name across the Island we do advertise monthly in Island Business Magazine and periodically in The County Press as well as other local advertising leaflets.

What is different about Wightpages.co.uk to other business listing sites?

Wightpages.co.uk is different in a couple of fundamental ways.  Firstly it allows users to read customer recommendations, allowing them to make a more informed decision from genuine customers.  Secondly each category is listed in order of recommendations, not alphabetically, so the more recommendations you get the higher up your category your business will appear.

How does it work?

You join, we send you cards and stickers to help promote your business with your existing satisfied customers to get recommendations on the site and move up your category listing.

We drive new customers to your details through online and press advertising, they see your great comments and scores and use you……simple!

What are the benefits to me?

It allows you to showcase true customer feedback through a legitimate third party which gives new customers real confidence in the service you provide.

Who can join?

Anyone who operates on the Island is allowed to join

How much is membership?

Membership is just £45 for the year

Can I buy more business cards?

No problem – business cards are just 10p each and we can send them to you in batches of 10.

How do I pay?

You can pay via Paypal or if you prefer you can send us a good old fashioned cheque

How do I know when I’ve been recommended?

Make sure that we’ve got your email address and we’ll send you an email every time someone gives you a recommendation on the site.

What do you expect from me?

We expect you to be the best that you can be! We’d like you to always be looking for that next great recommendation, and to help promote Wightpages.co.uk to be the site of choice for all of our great local businesses

Can I recommend anyone else as a tradesperson?

We are always looking for more great businesses on the Island and as such we’d love to hear about someone you know, we only ask that you don’t just recommend them because you know them but because they do a great job.

How will you use my personal and business information?

Your personal and business information will never be handed to any third party or displayed on the website without your prior consent.

What happens if I get a bad review?

Wightpages.co.uk is a recommendation website, so we don’t publish negative comments and reviews.  These are passed directly onto the business who is then able to contact the unhappy customer at their own discretion.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel your listing at any time, your annual subscription is non-refundable.
